FisipUPNVJ – An Indonesian expert warns about the impacts of using artificial intelligence (AI) in the media industry. He revealed it in an interview on the Indonesian National Press Day by the RRI Voice of Indonesia on Monday (10/2/2025). KBRN, Jakarta

Lecturer at the National Development University “Veteran” Jakarta, Munadhil Abdul Muqsith said the AI could risk media-related jobs and the completeness of the information. He admitted that it was based on his student’s research.

“They (AI) will cut lots of media workers, and then they will use some big data to report (to) the media. And then the impact is about lots of information, some information cannot (be) done completely because maybe they use some resources from the social media and et cetera,”

Abdul Muqsith, the communication sciences department head at the university, advised the Indonesian government to regulate the use of AI in the country’s media landscape. He also urged the government to grant scholarships for journalists to upgrade their education and media knowledge.

“They should give many scholarships for the journalists to upgrade their education, knowledge about the (media) technology, and how the media work,” he further said.
