FISIP UPNVJ – Anis Hidayah Migrant Care: International Migration Grows as A Key Issue in IR
The phenomenon of international migration is expected to develop into one of the issues in relations between countries. Human mobility from one country to another can affect the social and political dimensions of relations between countries. Countries can be disadvantaged by the large number of refugees who have been displaced by conflicts in their home countries. Meanwhile, international migrants can also become an economic force for their home countries, among others, when they work and generate financial remittances and strengthen the good image of their home country.
International Relations Study Program, UPN Veteran Jakarta held a Guest Lecture delivered by Anis Hidayah, an international migrant worker rights and social activist. Anis Hidayah does a lot of advocacy and assistance to migrant workers through the non-governmental organization that she has started for a long time, Migrant Care.
According to Anis, international relations students need to study international migration because plots can be multidimensional. The study of international migration has even developed into several mandatory discussions at some of the world’s leading universities. The guest lecture was opened by Andi Kurniawan, as the Head of International Relations Study Program, UPN Veteran Jakarta.
