My first week journey of IISMA in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) began when I and my other 11 friends departed from Jakarta (Soekarno Hatta International Airport-CGK) to Kuala Lumpur (Kuala Lumpur International Airport-KLIA) on Friday, October 14 2022 at 11.30 WIB. The flight from Jakarta to Kuala Lumpur took 2 hours and 20 minutes. We arrived in KLIA at 14.50 MYT and the weather was drizzling. Talking about the flight, we landed safely but there was a little delay. Then, we needed to pass the Immigration Department of Malaysia Document Checks (Passport and Student Visa) to get our baggage. This process was exhausting because it took around 3 hours to finish. For my settlement, I would stay in Kolej Antarabangsa Ibu Zain.

Going to study abroad was my first time living overseas independently away from my parents, families, and friends. Actually, I didn’t expect that I would finish my 5th semester of lecture in Malaysia as an exchange student from Indonesia. It was a wonderful experience yet challenging because I had to adapt with new lecture system, people, environment, culture, etc. In the first week of my IISMA journey, I needed to do the Course Registration that ran from October 17 to October 30. I registered to a course named Introduction to Intercultural Communication. The first day of lecture started on Tuesday, October 18 at Dewan Kuliah 3F.301 in FSSK (Fakulti Sains Sosial dan Kemanusiaan) Building. The class was impressive and I became friends with both locals and international students. In the end, I didn’t do many things in the first week. I just prepared required stuffs for the lecture and daily needs such as stationeries, toiletries, and snacks.
